Scuba Diving

Introduction

For some years already I had ideas about taking diving lessons, but like many things... right, you recognize it hihi... But during our holiday in Indonesia we did some snorkeling, and also an introduction dive. And that was the moment we knew it for sure: we simply had to get our diving license!

In September 2002 we joined Duikteam Nieuwegein to get the NOB/CMAS 1* diving license (advanced open water diver). We're diving about twice a week. In August 2004 I got my succeeding diving license (NOB/CMAS 2*). Two months later Wytske did the same. On january 2005 I finished my required number of dives to start the 3* course, but I'll have to be patient because the NOB is currently revising their courses. I hope to start in March 2005, when our instructors are trained for the new system.

Although we dive throughout the year, the summer season is the most exiting period. With our club we visit Zeeland quite often, which has the most interesting dive spots of the Netherlands. Other dives are mostly done in local lakes.

Since our move to Everdingen in 2005 we did not dive that much anymore. There was so much nature to explore above the water, that we didn't have time to explore nature under water anymore. But sometimes we take our gear out of the box again and do some diving in a lake nearby, or in Zeeland.
